		<description>Well, one hopes it wasn&#039;t the only reason that made MS think of buying Yahoo.

From reading around, it seems the MS/Yahoo deal has been floating around for some time - presumably now Yahoo have had a bad set of results, it&#039;s more tempting to their shareholders etc.

It would be nice if the deal was blocked due to it resulting in unfair competition (there would only be two real search engines afterwards); but it&#039;s unlikely.

Another slightly interesting aspect is that Yahoo rely heavily on PHP - and employ Rasmus Lerdorf ... will Yahoo &quot;switch&quot; to .Net? (much like Hotmail was migrated from FreeBSD many years ago)
