Asus have announced a new tiny PC (7″ Screen), ultraportable thingy. It apparently can run Windows XP or Linux. They are calling it the Eee PC.

That looks quite cool – reminds me of the latest Palm, but looks (hopefully) more useful. Shame it doesn’t appear to have built in bluetooth for GSM/3g etc.

I’d love to hear of someone in the UK selling them…

Hmm, battery life is a bit suckey at only 3 hours…. you’d think they could manage more with a flash based disk… guess they’re trying to save weight.

IIRC the palm thing was a ‘PC Companion’ in that it was only useful in combination with a full PC. These things look like they can run a full PC stack and so can work independent of a PC.

Still at £100 quid I think they are a bargain! Looks like no release date for Europe has been announced yet.
