Second Life

Geek No Comments

So I thought I would give this Second Life lark a go. I downloaded the Linux Client but it kept bombing out so unfortunatally I have been having to use the Windows client for now.

Still it got me in the game, and it’s quite interesting. There are a few of us here at work who are looking at Second Life to get some idea on IT strategy incase the business ever wants to do antthing with it. At the moment I am just getting used to the environment and finding my way round.

I can see how you can spend hours in there, its very ‘moreish’, and I love the flying thing! So if you want to look me up I have called myself ‘port7 sodwind‘ and I will be on there usualy in the evenings between 20.00 – 23.00 (between Niamh’s feeds!)

Sharepoint like thing for Openoffice.org

Geek No Comments

Just heard about O3Spaces, a sharepoint like server for Openoffice.org and Staroffice. This is very cool as it was a needed bit of software, Sharepoint has really taken off in the corporate world and we needed an answer to it.

One downside though, there is no ‘Community Edition’

Local News

This is local news for local people, if you are not local please go away, there is nothing for you here!

It seems the League of Gentlemen are filming again, on the way to the shops yesterday I saw Bab’s Cab (the only pre-op cab driver!!) at the top of station road. Next to it were Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, with a few crew members, they didn’t appear to be in character so I suspect its some sort of documentary.

Here are a few poor pictures (camera phone, sorry!)

Big Asterisk

Geek 1 Comment

Does anyone know of any large Asterisk implementations? By large I am talking 2000 extentions over a WAN, including integrating with a Seimens Hicom 300E that probably has about 1500 extentions on it.

Also any Asterisk consulting companies that could assist on such an implementation.

Eat, Sleep & S*@t

Family No Comments

Eat, Sleep & Sh*t, that is my life at the moment, well not mine Niamh’s.

We have been home since Friday evening and been getting into the looking after baby lark. She seems to be eating loads at the moment, pretty much every 2 hours, so its hard to get things of our own done like eating and sleeping! Still it’s worth it, Nimah is great. Her poo has just turned yellow which I am told is a good thing!
