Driving…Do I HAVE to?

Family, Work No Comments

Have done a bit of driving over the past few days and have had the pleasure to see some lovley car crashes. I passed one today on the M62 near Huddersfield where the fire brigade were cutting someone out of the remains of a car. Over the past 2 days I have seen a total of 5 car accidents. It really puts me off driving, I do consider myself a safe driver, I try not to take risks, and I try to keep a cell of space around me. Though I can do as much as I can but that doesn’t protect me from other peoples bad driving and that scares me. But with my job at the moment I need to drive alot so I will stick with it and try and be safe.

On a brighter note I have been listening to BBC Radio4 over the past few weeks. There are some good programes on there, it makes a change from music.

Also RIP the legend that was John Peel, certainally I for one will miss his amazing late night shows.

Egypt and Terror….

Family No Comments

Over the past few days there have been reports on the news that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office are saying that they expect more terrorist activity in Egypt, particuarly on the Siani Peninsula. Guess where I am off to for a week in November? The Siani Peninsula in Egypt. So if there are not many more entries in this blog, you know why!!! I wish everyone would just chill out and stop shooting the arses of each other.

On a work front half the killostreams into our data centre went down today as there was some sort of peoblem in the exchange thats near our Data Centre. Lots of phone calls today. The people who were involved really made things easier so Carl and Richard, if you are reading this, a big thanks and a pint for you! Lots of things to do at the moment, might get a contracter in…

Linuxworld Expo

Geek No Comments

Just got back from the Linuxworld Expo down in London Town. Good show, met some familiar faces (hello Kat, David, Jono & Richard). Saw some cool things, Novell are really pushing ahead with their opensource agenda, Linux on IBM’s pSeries looks cool. The IBM OpenPower box looks cool, but the guy was vague as to whether you can actually run AIX on the box, I guess its just a marketing gimmick. Saw lots of Ubuntu installs around the place too, so I am going to have to give it a whirl. I also bought myself a cool OpenBSD t-shirt, the fat b*”tard size. Last week I also made contact with some friends I have not seen for seven years, and its been really good catching up. I must not loose contact again!
